Try to imagine yourself as a youngster growing up in a small town in Ontario. At the age of 5, or thereabouts, you develop polio. At the age of 13, or thereabouts, your father leaves your mom for another woman, and the full pursuit of his career. Your older brother goes off with his dad and you stay with your mom. Your forced to move into a smaller place with the memories your dad left behind. Your new high school doesn't inspire you. All you care about is your music, and at the young age of 19 you decide you can't have your cake and eat it to where you are, so it's time to really begin thinking seriously about moving on. You have to leave to live out your lifes true passion to the fullest. "Sugar mountain" reflects the past, as well as the future, and you move on. You experience the NYC thing of the sixties and realize your possibilities. You meet up with an artist who shares a similar passion. You realize his commitment is equal to your own. So you hop in your hearst (long may she run); that makes you happy. Suddenly, by chance, your recording with this individual, (and two other significant artists) and signing major recording contracts in LA. Your famous! Shortly thereafter, you develop epilepsy. Eventually, you marry, have a son striken with a rare dissability. It happens again to you in your third marraige, to your second son. Your wife develops a brain tumor, is hospitalized, and recovers. Your mom (Rassy) passes.(She bought you your first guitar) You endure it all somehow, and every note you write reflects your feelings. Now, you live for your children; for your wife, and helping others(THE BRIDGE SCHOOL). Still trying to make sense of it all, but knowing that what really matters it what we leave behind. This is the passion of Neil Young. The passion behind Silver and Gold. All I can say after growing up with this guy for thirty years is, Man, can he play that thing; and their's no one that can hit that acoustic guitar like Neiler. Thank you Neil. You are my inspiration. There is no one that plays that thing from the heart like you do.
