Returning to his roots with rewarding success .

All Neil Young fans who were puzzled by him not only reuniting with Crosby , Stills and Nash but appearing to enjoy the experience of being amongst fellow ageing hippies as they relived experiences of yesteryear may find the explanation in this album .

Neil Young has travelled a long way over the thirty , or is it now approaching forty years , and this album seems somewhat reflective as he appears to return to his musical roots . On " Buffalo Springfield Again " he would to yearn for times gone by as he sings ; " Like to see those guys again / And give it a shot / Maybe now we can show the world / What we got " ; is he suggesting a reformation of things as they used to be ? Crosby , Stills , Nash and Young...Reprise ?

Silver and Gold appears to be a superb trip in nostalgia , tracks slow , dreamy with fabulous acoustic play and Neil Young's haunting vocals .

Superb musical arrangements and performances only help to enhance the album further . Not a poor track to listen to and if you are a fan of the " Harvest " " After The Goldrush " or , the not as well known but my personal favourite album " Old Ways " then I am sure you will find this album a veritable treat .
