Let me say up front that I am not a big rap fan. I'm a DJ, so I've learned to appreciate different styles of music, but still there are easier styles for me to relate to.

When rappers like Nelly and 50 Cent came along it was such a breath of fresh air into the genre. I actually found myself looking forward to spinning their discs.

Now along comes this album and it's about what I expect out of the average rapper - taking someone else's work, adding a new beat and perpetratin' away. If it were any other rapper, I'd just figure oh well par for the course.

However, this is NELLY doing it. An artist who actually has TALENT. A rapper who actually CAN write catchy melodies and really sing. Someone who really and truly has a musical GIFT. We've all come to expect so much more from him, that this is a major letdown.

This album left me thinking the record company was pressing Nelly to turn out something, anything -- instead of having the patience to let Nelly do what he's capable of. Don't sell out Nelly - you can do so much better.
