Excellent Follow Up to Country Grammar

After having an extremely successful first album, "Country Grammar" with several hits and selling over 8 million copies, Nelly came back with his second album, "Nellyville" which, if you can believe, shows improvements from "Country Grammar."

To start off, "Nellyville" is the title track "Nellyville", which isn't a bad song, but certainly isn't the best song on the CD. Next up is the first of several short skits that appear on Nelly's CDs, "Gettin' It Started" featuring Cedric the Entertainer and La La. The skit is a nice, somewhat funny interlude to "Hot In Herre," but it gets tiresome listening to it after a while. "Hot In Herre," the first single released off of "Nellyville" is an excellent song that reached #1 on the charts. "Hot In Herre" is followed by two fairly good songs, "Dem Boyz" and "Oh Nelly" but nothing close to what is yet to come.

Starting at song 6 through 11 is the real climax of "Nellyville." Starting with "Pimp Juice" which was another of Nelly's 5 Top 60 hits from "Nellyville." After that is one of the most popular songs from the CD, "Air Force Ones" in which Nelly and the tics are rapping about Nike's shoe, Air Force One, and made it up to #3 on the charts. After that is another of the skits with Cedric the Entertainer and La La. This one is funnier than the first, but still is boring after hearing it multiple times. "On The Grind" is the worst song during the "climax," but is definitely not a bad song at all, featuring King Jacob. Next is an excellent duet with Destiny's Child's Kelly Rowland, "Dilemma," which is about the love between two neighbors and never wanting to end a relationship. After "Dilemma" is "Splurge," a pretty good song that you'll get stuck in your head after listening to it.

After the great "climax," sadly it goes way down the very next song, "Work It" featuring N'Sync's Justin Timberlake. Nelly helped N'Sync's remix of "Girlfriend" become a big hit, so Justin decided to attempt to return the favor, which was a big mistake and ended in a failure simply because mixing in pop with rap doesn't work. But, don't make "Work It" make you stop listening to the rest of the CD, because the very next song is another one of the CD's bests. "Roc The Mic Remix" featuring Freeway, Beanie Siegel and Murphy Lee brings it back up to right where it left off before "Work It." Nelly would have had yet another hit if this was released as a single.

Next you'll be tempted to skip the next song and skit. "The Gank" which is the worst song on the track besides "Work It" and "5000" the most boring skit I have ever heard. "#1," the next song is another of Nelly's big hits from "Nellyville" and one of my favorites. Following "#1" is CG2 (Country Grammar 2), the remake to Country Grammar, which has somewhat the same rhythm as the first one, but is not even near as good as it.

The finale of "Nellyville" isn't amazing, but it is all right. The last song on the CD is "Say Now" which is a pretty good song, but nothing special. To cap it off is the final skit of the CD, "F**K It Then" which is sort of funny, but not a good way to end a great CD.

All in all "Nellyville" is a great CD which is an improvement over the very popular, "Country Grammar" album. Let's hope Nelly can keep things going and improve yet again in his 3rd album.
