Not as good as "Sweat", but still awesome.

Well, I have to say that I agree with the people that say that Nelly has gone mainstream, and I do not think he should be considered a rap artist. BUT I do not agree that this is a bad thing. Even Nelly himself said that he is not afraid to try new things and do unlikely collaberations. This album (as well as "Sweat") is a HELL of a lot more interesting than his other two albums, where almost every song sounds the same. What is wrong with Nelly trying to be different from EVERY other run-of-the-mill rap artist out there?? Nothing. It works and this is what Nelly wants to do, so what's the big deal?? (Go listen to boring and bland G-Unit if you don't like Nelly.)
1) PLAY IT OFF (Featuring Pharrell Williams) -Obviously produced by the Neptunes. The chorus is very catchy and the music is kind of old school. It's very laidback. [7/10]
2) PRETTY TOES (Featuring Jazze Pha and T.I.) - Just like the previous track, very laid back and Old School. It's not really about anything, but it is quite catchy. [7/10]
3) MY PLACE (Featuring Jaheim) - One of my favorite songs from 2004. It is obviously an attempt to recreate the mega-smash "Dilemma", and although it wasn't as popular, I like it better. Jaheim has a really good voice, and this song shows that. This song is the R&B side of Nelly.[10/10]
4) PARADISE
5) SHE DON'T KNOW MY NAME (Featuring Snoop Dogg & Ron Isley) - Ron Isley shows why he is a legend with his amazing voice in this song. Snopp Dogg's rap is good, but it is not memorable. This is an O.K. song. [6/10]
6) N DEY SAY - This song samples "True" by Spandau Ballet (The same song that was used in the No.1 hit "Set Adrift of Memory Bliss" by P.M. Dawn). The lyrics in this song are very thought-provoking and it actually has meaning. The beat is really good too. This will probably be his next hit. [9/10]
7) WOODGRAIN AND THE LEATHER WIT A HOLE - This song reminds me of "Batter Up" because of it's baseline. It has a weird introduction of just Nelly speaking, with is kind of Scary. O.K. song though. [5/10]
8) IN MY LIFE (Featuring Avery Storm & Mase) - Avery Storm has a very good soulful voice. The beat is very catchy, and this is a love song. The harmonizing is really good in this song. I really do not like Mase's voice. That's just my opinion though. Really good song. [8/10]
9) OVER AND OVER (Featuring Tim McGraw) - Probably one of the best songs of all time. It's an unlikely collaberation, but it works. It went to No.1 for 11 weeks on Billboard's Top 40 Mainstream Chart, so it shows that Nelly appeals to a broad audience. This is definetely not a rap song, because Nelly sings it. It is a R&B song with Country influences. It is very original and different. [10+/10]
10) NOBODY KNOWS (Featuring Anothony Hamilton) - This song is a slow jam. It shows that Anthony Hamilton is very underrated. The violins make the song even better. Very Good. [8/10]
11) DIE FOR YOU - This song is about Nelly's devotion to his children. It starts off with a telephone conversation with one of his kids. It's nice to see that despite all of his fame, Nelly still cares about his kids more than anything. The beat is very similar to "#1". [6/10]
Overall, this album is very good, although I think "Sweat" is better. I still can't understand how this album and it's singles are doing so much better than "Sweat" when both albums are very good. Either way, I'm glad Nelly is not listening to the other rappers who think Nelly is commercial, when their music is not catchy or meaningful (*cough* 50Cent *cough*)
