Nelly- Sweat

Having checked out "Suit" last week, I held back reviewing "Sweat" (2004) till now to see if my original thoughts of this album had changed with more play. They have not. This album runs in at thirteen tracks and has lots of guest appearances, Nelly going solo on only three tracks. The lead single is "Flap Your Wings", typical track where Nelly talks about his bling and the ladies backed by a boring beat. I really have no liking for it. I feel the way about the vast majority of tracks on this release, Nelly got a bunch of well known commercial artists on his album and turned out some very weak tracks whether it be "Tilt Ya Head Back" with Christiana Aguilera, "Grand Hang Out" with Fat Joe, Remy Martin and Young Tru or "Boy" with Lil Flip and Big Gipp etc, the music is simply subpar. The beat to "Spida Man" makes it a listenable track, and Mobb Deep and Missy Elliot help provide the albums best track "Playa". Some artists put more lyrical value in a single track then Nelly provides with this release, this is not an album I recommend for the collection.
