Extreme Disappointment
Review Score:

(2/10)
I've only heard one artist whose cd was full of hits and a double disc: R. Kelly ("R.", not this "U Saved Me/Happy People" deal). I took a chance with Nelly because I've always liked him as an artist. Plus, I figured if someone was bold enough to put out two separate cds at the same time (when artists are having all kinds of problems selling ONE), then it must be good. Wrong! Out of all the songs on "Sweat", I only liked two. The "Spida Man" beat was CRAZY, but Nelly hasn't quite figured out how to ride the beat. On top of that, when he does use a clever lyric, he gets too hyped about it. Who didn't crack a smile on the "Introduce me to her knees" line? But then he went on about her knees for the next three or four lines. Dawg, we heard you loud and clear. No need to repeat. YOu sound frantic when you do.
I liked the song with Christina Aguilera on the VMAs, but not too much on the cd. I think it was because Nelly is one of the few cats I know who can look cool in suspenders. On top of that, he'll always be eye candy and give a great performance. I'd watch and tape a video for all of these songs I don't like just to look at something I do like (his face & body). Not good.
The irony is that even though I only liked one song with Nelly on it and that was the one without all the guest appearances, I'd still run out and buy his next cd. The charisma, the style, HIS LOOKS, and his honesty will always give him the upperhand.
