New Edition at Their Best

New Edition is one of the few modern boy bands, pop or R&B, who were able to shed their bubblegum schtick and grow musically without alienating their core audience. At the center of their maturity is the cd Heart Break. With the addition of the gifted Johnny Gill, the members of New Edition had to measure up to a higher singing standard and they did not fail. The blessing of this album is being to identify the individual vocals of each member of NE. Each one is able to shine without overpowering the synergy of being in a vocal group. New Edition's Home Again is wonderful continuation of this trend. Unfortunately, New Edition will not be given the deserved credit of re-introducing the boy bands to America in the mid- and late 80s.
