i just noticed. it's not mentioned by....... but this cd IS HDCD format. don't fret now. HDCD is combatible with all regular cd players.(not the super-audio cd thingy coming out, or dvd-audio) HDCD simply sounds better because it is 20 bits instead of the normal 16. now if you have a cd or dvd deck with the HDCD symbol on it then you're in luck, it has a microchip that further enhances your audio. i just got done listning to "into the void" . as i sit back and enjoy the tunes i realize that i do not apreciate it enough. that is why i am writing the review

i'll continue to blab about this cd because i love it so much.

People may say "it's too long" i say "no it is not. yes it is a double album but it's worth every minute of your life. and it's not like you have to listen to it all at once. there are two cds. split them up. but plan it out so you listen all the way through A cd because the songs flow together. a newbie to the fragile will often forget exactly what track he is on."

people may say "it gets boring" i say "what??!! you can only possible judge this cds "boringness" on other works of NIN which you should already own. i have a very short attention span. i can only write this review because i can type really fast. now would i sit through the WHOLE album at least 3 dozen times if it was boring?. not one song on here seems like a repeat to me(unlike many rock albums) just compare 'starfu**rs' and 'the great below'"

people may say "who wants to hear someone whine about how depressed they are?" i say "i never once thought trent reznor was whining, i think he protrays true human feelings through his music and his words. it is my opinion that he is the way he is. he's dealing with it through what he loves; his music. there is more than being sad or angry througout this double-album. there is hope. there is love. there is music that invokes feelings in me but which i have no exact way to described. For example in 'underneath it all' near the end when he starts screaming in a harmonic, almost choir like, sound "all i do, i can still feel you"

people may say "that's alot of money" i say "yeah..it's a double album. just keep putting those coins into the piggy bank until you can get it. trust me , it's worth it. hell eat less if you have to."

people may say "but he's a tool of the devil, he hates religion" i say "well i don't know how religious trent is, if at all..but talk about irrelevant mudslinging!" there is of course the famous song 'heresy'(TDS) with the chorus "your god is dead, and no one cares. if there is a hell, i'll see you there" he was hardly working as a "tool of the devil". he was expressing his veiws on christianity. he doesn't like it . good for him. neither do i really. but i'm not going to type out a theological report. all i can say is that it is his opinion and whether you that song's lyrics or not you have to admit it has a really good tune. nothing like that is on the fragile. trent has seemed to "mature" over the years and his lyrics take a differnt style altogether really."

when you start to listen to nin, you will be hooked. after the must-have fragile i reccomend pretty hate machine, trent's first album, which was released in 89. then downward spiral which is from 94. those are the best. after that shop around for what ever you like. or be like me and try to collect every single NIN cd ever printed!

Rock needed a resurrection... and here it is!

I have always liked NIN on the fact that the music, although not always pleasing to the ear, it put together in some mystical, high-quality [ ... read complete review ]
