Nirvana

MTV Unplugged in New York [live]

Great Live Album

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (8/10)
Nirvana's performance showcased how good an MTV Unplugged concert could be. Offering up an eclectic mix of Nirvana staples and covers (like David Bowie's Man Who Sold the World and the Meat Puppet's Lake of Fire), Nirvana crafted a performance that is still just as played on rock and alternative radio stations as their studio albums. The music is sparse, slowed down, yet still full of emotion, grit, and intensity. Kurt Cobain's voice fluctuates with plenty of emtion, grief, and pain, which lends an edgy feel to his vocals. This album is a definate must have for fans of Nirvana and the grunge scene at large, because it showcases just how dark and deep Nirvana's music really goes.
