Tragic Kingdom

Ah, the memories!

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (8/10)
This was the first CD I ever bought. Since then, I've pretty much only bought pop CDs, but I digress. What matters is that this is an incredible CD. I'm not even into this type of music anymore, but I can't bring myself to get rid of this, because the songs are so unique, and, well... good!

1. "Spiderwebs" - The first single from the CD, and the one that propelled this CD into the huge hit that it was. However, I didn't like it then, and I don't like it now. It's not as original as most of the songs on this CD.

2. "Excuse Me Mr." - OK, so the CD is off to a bad start, as this song is nothing special either. It's filler.

3. "Just a Girl" - Now we're into the good stuff! One of the best tracks on the album, with it's funky beat and inspiring lyrics.

4. "Happy Now?" - A unique souding, bitter song. This song almost falls into the trap of being "Excuse Me Mr."-type filler, but the upbeat, catchy chorus saves it.

5. "Different People" - This is one of the most original songs I've heard! It's unique beat and style really grow on you, and the lyrics are very interesting, too.

6. "Hey You" - The first few lines of this song are the best. That's not to say that the rest of the Oriental-soundng song isn't good... just that the beginning is the best.

7. "The Climb" - A much slower song than the rest of the album. I'd like this song a lot better if it weren't so long.

8. "Sixteen" - This is the most "rock" sounding song on the album, and my least favorite.

9. "Sunday Morning" - Another really unique song! This is one of my favorites, because the beat and the music are just incredible, and the vocals are nothing to scoff at either.

10. "Don't Speak" - This is the reason I bought the CD. It's a melancholy song with great music, and Gwen's voice sounds better than ever on this track.

11. "You Can Do It" - This is more filler. A very forgettable song... I seriously can't remember how it goes!

12. "World Go 'Round" - This song is a lot like "Different People," only with a more "socially concious" message to it.

13. "End It On This" - A great, catchy song that sounds a little like "Don't Speak," only more upbeat, despite the decidedly NOT upbeat lyrics.

14. "Tragic Kingdom" - Another one of the best, and most unique, tracks on the album. It's a parody of Disney World's Magic Kingdom. The music and beat to this song are incredible, and even the litten opening part is great. The albunm definitely ends on a high note!
