STANDING ON THE SHOULDER OF GIANTS
FUCKING IN THE BUSHES: Like "Whats the story morning glory" has the instrumental "SWAMP SONG" here we get FUCKING IN THE BUSHES. Here we hear noel and company {minus Liam} giving us the introduction to more grown up OASIS. Noels guitar is soaring on this track, and you can here how his definition has changed. Noel has proven time and time again, that he is a rock n roll guitar player. {although its a treat to hear him strum acoustic}
GO LET IT OUT: In america Oasis always has at least one hit. Go Let It Out is that hit. They lyrics are catchy and the beat is pure rock n roll. Liam hits the notes with passion and mobility. Again, listen closely for noels guitar roaring. Probably the loudest song on the album, and the best Liam song.
WHO FEELS LOVE?: Single #2 slates Oasis singing a song deep in emotion and vocal perportions for Liam Gallagher. This song proves oasis is not afraid to streatch their rock n roll lyrics to include those with more sensitive tones, and ear pleasing riffs. Noel Gallaghers solo is AWESOME.
PUT YER MONEY WHERE YER MOUTH IS: Not their greatest song, but they could do worse, this one is full of loud instruments and pounding keyboards. This song is a new direction for Oasis, but purly experimental. You could certainly do worse.
LITTLE JAMES: This is the first song, written by lead singer Liam Gallagher for his ex-wife actress Patsy Kensit and his step son James. The song is great, and Liams voice hasnt been this raspy since Wonderwall.
GAS PANIC: Liam says it was written for the "POT HEADS" This song sounds so good, it should have been a single. Another raspy performance, and another great electric guitar solo for Noel, who in my opinion is one of the most overlooked guitar players.
WHERE DID IT ALL GO WRONG: Noel takes over vocal duty for this one, and does a beautiful job. His voice is so solid, it will make you wonder why he hasn't sang more songs. {He has by the way, there are over 30 brilliant bootlegs out there} Once again the guitar mixed with Noels softer voice makes for one of the best songs on the album.
SUNDAY MORNING CALL: Noel's voice is geared up for this one. Single #3 offers more guitar riffs that than WHERE DID IT ALL... and the lyrics are so pleasing, you feel as if your in a daze. Noel's song writing ability has really broadened, and the words are sweet and emotional.
I CAN SEE A LIAR: Liam takes us back into the rock n roll element. The lyrics are typical "I can see a Liar, sitting by the fire", and are repeated too many times. However its catchy enough for die hard oasis fans. Probably the least favorite on the album. Noel Gallagher had said, Liam fought him to keep this one on the album, and he too, thinks the song stinks. LOL
ROLL IT OVER: One of Liam's boldest and most emotional song since "CAST NO SHADOW" Liam proves he can hit the high notes, and keep his voice at a level that is less then a scream or a whine. It's a great choice for an album closer, it ends with Noel picking at that electric guitar, and Liams voice fading away.
All in all I would have to say this is the most MATURE album yet for Oasis. They have put most of their party annex behind them, and are now for the most part, clean and sober, and their music sounds all the better for it.
I hope that the rest of America can see OASIS for what they really are: One of the last rock and roll bands left.
