One of the Best Rock Albums Out There

I did not hear about The Offspring before hearing their catchy songs on the videogame Crazy Taxi. I got "Americana" as a present and I loved it! Now I am a huge fan of the rock band. This is what I think about each song:
1. Intro (0:09) NO GRADE
A basic intro. An automated voice says, "Welcome to Americana".
2. Have You Ever (3:56) A
An awesome starting song. I love the lyrics and it is extremely catchy. I can really relate to the song, so I listen to it a lot.
3. Staring At The Sun (2:13) B
I like the beginning, but I really dislike that the song gets really fast. If they kept the same tempo throughout the song, I would have given the song a higher grade. After a few listens, the fast tempo gets less annoying and more fun to listen to. Great music, cool lyrics.
4. Pretty Fly (For A White Guy) (3:08) A-
This song reminds me a lot of one of the wannabees in my grade. I really like this song because of its great music, funny voices, and good lyrics. The video is also very funny.
5. The Kids Aren't Alright (3:00) A
This song really makes you think. Very good lyrics and music that enhances the song a lot. I like the line "how can one little street swallow so many lives". Great chorus, awesome verses. I love this song!
6. Feelings (2:52) C
I don't really like this song, but it grows on you. Compared to the great songs on this album, you will probably pass this song. The lyrics are not too good, but the fast-paced and the singing is good. The chorus makes up for the not-so-great verses. Not terrible, but the rest of the album is better.
7. She's Got Issues (3:48) B+
Slower than most of the other songs on the album, but still a good song. The song is funny and kind of depressing at points. The lyrics are great, the chorus is O.K., and the music accompanies the lyrics well. Good song.
8. Walla Walla (2:57) B
A song about a friend going to prison. The band makes fun of the person going to "walla walla" which is funny. Great music, and the lyrics are pretty good. The song eventually gets annoying and the other songs on the album are better.
9. The End of the Line (3:02) B
This song is depressing because it is about death, but with this band's reputation their songs can't get too sad. The music is good and so are the lyrics. Decent song, a good listen.
10. No Brakes (2:04) C
I don't like this song very much. Kind of annoying. The verses are not too good, but the chorus is. There are much better songs out there, and a lot are on this album.
11. Why Don't You Get A Job (2:52) A
A funny parody of "Obladi, Oblada" by The Beatles. Actually, the songs have almost nothing in common, except for the chorus tune. This song is funny, catchy, and has a great video. One of the best songs on the album.
12. Americana (3:15) A
The beginning of the song is used on the Crazy Taxi menu screen. I like the part leading up to the lyrics, and the lyrics are really good, too. The music is great. This song is one of the best songs on the album.
13. Pay The Man (10:21) A
The beginning of the song (the part leading to the lyrics) is 3 minutes long. The real rock song starts at 4:53. The lyrics at the beginning are very well written. The rock song is also pretty good, featuring more great lyrics and catchy music. One of the best songs on the album. The song then takes a break at 8:06 and the "Pretty Fly Reprise" starts at 9:16, which has a mariachi band play the tune to "Pretty Fly (For A White Guy)". What a way to end the album!

Overall, this album gets a B+. There are a lot of awesome songs on the album that makes it one of my favorite rock albums ever. There are some decent songs and two bad ones, but still if you don't buy this album, you'll miss out on a great adventure through rock.
