People criticize this CD all the time because people say it is more pop-punk than their earlier work. HELLO!?!?!? Ixnay is poppier than this!!! The offspring is more of a skate-punk group rather than pop-punk. Skate punk has more of a straight feel and Pop-punk has a more bouncy rhythm. There is a little pop punk on this CD (She's Got Issues, Pretty Fly (for a White Guy)), some songs with a little pop-punkinfluence, but mostly skate (No Brakes, Staring at the Sun, Americana), a song with a heavy metal-ish intro (Americana), a folk-ish song (Why don't You Get a Job?), an egyptian style rock song (Pay the Man), but mostly skate punk (Have You Ever, The Kids Aren't Alright, Feelings, Walla Wall, End of the Line). In Short, 5 Skate songs, 3 songs that re skate with a lttle pop infused into their sructure, a song with a heavy metal intro, a folk-ish song, and egyptian song, and 2 pop-punk songs. Those factors added together make one CD that is mostly skate punk with a little pop-punk and diverse other styles. What's wrong with diversity??? Blink-182 became instantly more popular with their diverse styles following the success of EotS.It just shows how the success of one song can change a band's reputation. CD highlights include Have You Ever, Pretty Fly (For a White Guy), The Kids Aren't Alright, She's Got Issues and Americana. The lowlight of the CD is Why Don't You Get a Job, a song that the Offspring thought they would do to have a song that everyone would like. It's not really a band song, it was just roduced a little sloppily, Just buy the CD, There is a song n the CD for all musical tastes except classical music.
