Everything from Americana up to their latest album "Splinter" just sounds like macho frat-boy rock... and this is coming from someone who loves Ignition, Smash, and Ixnay in the Hombre! On Americana Dexter makes cracks like "I don't care if I'm insensitive". Now, don't get me wrong, he doesn't have to be needlessly happy or sweet, but with lyrics like these, he's just being an ass. On any of The Offspring's newer albums, you are guaranteed NOT to hear songs like the following: Jennifer Lost the War, Out on Patrol, Baghdad, Dirty Magic, LAPD, Forever and a Day, Genocide, or Gone Away. If that's a relief for you, then I question how much of a fan you are, because you obviously like their newer, hokey, testosterone-filled music that is marketed towards boys 15 and under. Back in their heyday, The Offspring used to sing about the child victims of war and abuse, police brutality, hating people but "loving them more", and sincerely mourning the loss of a loved one. Now they just sing about having hangovers, getting it up the back in prison, and other guys who get cheated on and have a "b*tch" who refuses to get freakin' job. There are more important things in life to sing about, guys. You of all people should know that.
