The Offspring weren't widely known, but I think this album is a sleeper hit. First hearing their riffs on a skateboarding video, I was thoroughly impressed. It's one of those bands that you always hear and probably listen to on the radio, but never took the time to figure out who the hell they were. Dexter has great tone range, Noodles is simply unparalleled on lead guitar (with integral support from Greg K on bass) and Ron Welty can really set a good beat on the drums. This is one of the few albums you can pop in on a hot summer day and just cruise around with; you know the songs rock and don't really give a damn what anyone else thinks. Much for the same with all of their other albums for that matter. PLEASE don't be one of those trendy mainstreamers who thinks The Offspring rocks just because they know the words to "Pretty Fly".
