Why does everyone dislike this album so much?? Maybe it's nostalgia talking, but I really like this album a lot. This is, as far as I know, Andy's second album own his own, still carrying the OMD name. Yes, it's a lot different than the early stuff, but does that make it bad?? I've been a huge fan of OMD since the beginning, and I never really minded the change to a more upbeat, dancy OMD. It started with Sugar Tax, when Andy took over as the only member of OMD, and basically wrote and performed all the songs by himself--and it's a pretty damn good album as well. Not only is (was) Andy the driving force behind the songwriting, but he IS the voice of OMD. Nobody could have ever taken his place. The songs on Liberator range from pretty good, like Stand Above Me, Everyday, Agnus Dei, to absolutely amazing. Dollar Girl is my favorite on the album, and I think it bears close musical resemblance to Speed of Light, off of Sugar Tax. The Best Years of Our Lives and King of Stone are a couple of really good ballads, and there's even an OMD adaptation of Dream of Me on here, which is really cool. If you think Sugar Tax was good, Liberator is just as good, if not a little better. Yeah it's a new OMD, but they're just as good as they've always been.
