Awesome Debut

From start to finish, this is one of OMD's most solid albums. It's so good because it's so simple. No fancy keyboards or drum machines, just the old school analogue monosynths. But back in the day, this was truly revolutionary stuff. Now either you love the synth rock movement of the early 80's, or you hate it. Either way, you have to give OMD credit for being one of the key bands of the era, and in reading Depeche Mode's biography, I was amazed at how much of an impact OMD had on Depeche Mode. All this time I thought it was the other way around. This is probably my favorite OMD album next to "Architecture" and "Organisation". There are some of OMD's best songs on here, some of which are obscure, like my personal favorite OMD song--The Messerschmitt Twins. Mystereality, Dancing, Electricity, Almost, and Messages are also great classic OMD songs. I like probably about 95% of all the stuff OMD has ever done, even their newest stuff is still awesome, and this, however simple it is, is still one of my faves after all these years. Great Debut album from an original, awesome band!!
