Bloodletting is not letting out the magic

"Bloodletting" has all the fine ingredients for a typical Overkill album(or for a typical heavy metal album for that matter)but "Bloodletting" fails to capture the magic of their earlier works such as "The Years of Decay" and "Horrorscope". "Bloodletting" is hard and fast and simply delivers the goods. What "Bloodletting" fails to do is break new ground or offer the listener something fresh to listen to. I do give Overkill credit for not straying too far from their signiture heavy metal sound, but if they keep producing the same songs over and over, I might as well go listen to the masterpieces I've mentioned earlier. The songs on the last three Overkill albums (minus "Coverkill"-which [stunk]) could all have been interchanged and no one would realize it. For the Overkill fan who doesn't mind Overkill's creative slump,then you will be satisfied with "Bloodletting". For the Overkill fan who wants something more than the same old riffs and vocals, go buy something adventurous such as Marilyn Manson's "HolyWood" or "Antichrist Superstar".
