Ozzy Osbourne

Blizzard of Ozz

RANDY "OVER RATED" RHOADS

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (2/10)
This won't be like a regular review since I'm sure every single one of you own this album, or at least have listened to it in the past. The only thing is, this isn't the version that all of us know and love. This is the 2002-released version where Ozzy (or more likely, it was probably Sharon) decided to edit out the original drummer ( Lee Kerslake) and bass player (Bob Daisley) and put new ones in instead. The replacements are Mike Bordin on drums (who I can't really complain about since he used to be the drummer in Faith No More) and Robert Trujillo (currently of Metallica) on bass.

That might not sound like too big of a deal, but the new bass and drumming just don't fit in, and often detract from Randy Rhodes' legendary guitar playing. It's almost like an entirely different album. The reason why something like this was even done? There are two popular opinions, with each one making Ozzy look like an a$$hole:

A). Ozzy and Sharon despise Lee Kerslake and Bob Daisley, so they took them off the record to spite them.

B.) To avoid having to pay Bob or Lee any of the royalties.

If they're going this far, then what's next? Editing out Randy Rhodes as well? That actually doesn't seem too far off either, since I heard that Randy and Sharon once had an affair in the '80's, so they might want to get rid of Randy to get rid of some of those bad memorys. I'll give this album 2 stars since, no matter how many times it's edited and messed with, you just can't give something like "Blizzard of Ozz" anything below a 2. There's also a bonus song, but I think that's been edited too.

Just so you know, there's no disclaimer or anything saying that this isn't the original version. The original has a small picture, a blue background, and the words "Ozzy" running down the side.
