To simply put it, I love this album. It is very original. This album definitely put pantera on the map as one of the greatest metal bands of all time. Each album I own, never disappoints to deliver a few songs that are full of fury, brutality, and plenty of thrashing. The title track is a classic example for thrashing. Cemetary Gates, the best track on the album, is masterfully orchestrated, goes from slow, soothing guitar rifts to faster and more pounding guitar rhythms along with strong drum patterns, and incredible vocals. Shattered, one of the faster tracks is an approach to speed metal and the title describes the sound of the song; it is very shattering. The Sleep, in my opinion, is a very underrated song. Sure it's a ballad, but it's a very catchy one, not to mention it has one of the best guitar solos I have ever heard. The guitar solo just fits the sound and tone of the song perfectly, I don't think you find a better solo to fit the song. This is a must-have for any Pantera fan.
