Reinventing The Steel

Cowboys From Hell has competition now

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
Cowboys From Hell was in 1990, and still is, one of the defining albums of speed metal. None of Pantera's, or anyone else's albums, for that matter, have come close to it. Now, with Reinventing The Steel, Cowboys finally has some competition. The shredded-throat vocals of Phil Anselmo result in more intensity than necessary, causing an increased sense of heaviness. Guitarist "Dimebag" Darrel releases possibly the highest pitched solo in history in "Death Rattle". The solo on "Godd*mn Electric" (which features Kerry King of Slayer) is at just as high of a pitch, and is kind of a strain on the ears after about 10 seconds. This is Pantera's 2nd best disc, right after Cowboys From Hell. If you know about Pantera but don't have any of the albums, get Cowboys From Hell first. If you aren't so new to Pantera, get this one because it is too good to ignore. Even if some of this is just noise, the rest of the disc more than makes up for it, so buy now. Have fun with this, metalheads!
