I found out about Pantera from one of my metal obsessed friends. He was all excited about finding a new metal band to listen to, so he kept bugging me to get a CD by them. I finally gave in and bought Vulgar Display of Power. It turns out that he had a right to love them
From the beginning to end, this album is raw metal. Dimebag Darrel is definatly one of the greatest guitarists and Phil Anselmo's voice is still in its yelling, hoarse voice stage (compared to the Great Southern Trendkill screaming stage)
Some of the best songs on the album (Mouth For War, This Love, Walk, Rise) are the songs that brought this amazing metal album to the top. My personal favorite is Rise. It is so heavy and has many catchy riffs.
If you like this album, buy Far Beyond Driven, another of my favorites
