An essential album in any collection.....one of 'metals' finest moments.

Devastatingly heavy and remorseless for the most, 'Vulgar...' does contain rich melodic moments to give you time to breathe. The rhythm section displays some of the finest grooves that would get the sleepiest of corpses moshing. The only word to describe the outcome of this four piece during this time in their career is POWER!

Vocally, Phil Anselmo blends growling angst with surprisingly sharp and intellegent lyrics. He mixes this amoungst his last truly melodic vocal effort with Pantera on emotional tracks such as 'Hollow'.

'Vular Display Of Power' is the first album to contain a true and consistant tradmark sound from Pantera and unlike all releases before or after, has no weak tracks or mediocre moments.

Inlight of the tragic events that prematurely took the genius guitarist who graces this album from our world, (Dimebag Darrell R.I.P.), it is a testament to music in general that his magic was captured here on 'Vulgar...' and will be perminant forever more. His physical form may have passed over but his brutal tone, flowing notes and uninhibited musical attitude will remain immortal.

Godspeed buddy and thanks for the soundtrack to my teen years.
