Vulgar Display Of Power

Arguably Pantera's best album

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
Texas metal gods Pantera's second major label effort Vulgar Display of Power was released in February of 1992. The band consisted of lead singer Philip Anselmo, bass player Rex, drummer Vinnie Paul and Vinnie Paul's brother the late Dimebag Darrel on guitar. How I overlooked these guys in High School and college was beyond me. I first heard Mouth For War on Beavis and Butthead and the music was true metal which I hadn't heard in awhile as music was hijacked by Nirvana and Pearl Jam(the nerds of rock). I first got this album in 2001 after my ex-colleague at a record store I helped out at recommended it to me. I took his advice and the album kicks ass. Dimebag was one of the last of the new guitar gods as evidenced on tracks like A New Level, (Expletive) Hostile, This Love and Hollow among others. Vulgar Display sold very well and went Multi-Platinum upon release without hardly any radio and/or MTV support showing that bands who refused to conform had long and enduring careers. Dimebag's death was a travesty and anyone who disrespects Dimebag are either cold or just sick or both! Anyways, if you are a newbie to Pantera start with this album. Next on my list is Far Beyond Driven. Highly recommended!

Awesome.

I purchased this album years ago, and I listen to it every week at least. I enjoy every song on this album, more or less.
