Such were the cries of all the children as Paradise Lost unleashed Icon upon the world...

Sad listening to this now and knowing how much PL has changed. Songs here are enchanting and melodic while staying dark and dangerous with the striking and heavy guitars clashing with the ethereal piano tones. But as soon as the next few albums came, Draconian Times and then One Second (Featuring a far older and even uglier woman on the cover), their sound changed completely and became much more mellow and ...happy....Noooooooooo...

But this is one great album and should always be remembered, especially my favourite tracks from it: Forging Sympathy and Dying Freedom.
