Gutsy Female Rocker
Review Score:

(10/10)
Just as Linda Ronstadt abandoned Rock And Roll in the early 80's for a decade long succesful exploration of Broadway, Jazz, Mariachi, C&W, & Pop styles, along came PAT BENATAR, who was the most obvious and enduring choice to carry the female rock'n roll torch. The two women enjoyed an incredibly successfull 80's decade on their own turfs. Gifted with talented vocal ability and armed with an ambitious backing studio-road band, BENATAR bolted onto the radio playlist and record charts like a torpedo destined to explode into an ambitious cache of bright musical fireworks. SYNCHRONISTIC WANDERINGS, chronicles all of BENATAR's hit and miss forays through the Rock wasteland, where she impacted and dominated the scene with her stylistic four octave singing voice. She definitely owned the rock charts and won many Grammys throughout the 1980s, but then, Pat Benatar was indeed talented beyond her classically trained soprano. The first two discs chronologically detail her 80's singles and key album tracks, also include the occasional studio session "demos" and "outtakes", movie soundtrack cuts, the artist's personal faves, plus a Spanish version of "Ooh Ooh Song" - she racked up quite a few major hit singles and memorable album tracks. Disc three represents the 90's decade and is an interesting and at times intriguing journey of musical explorations Pat Benatar was inclined to take through Blues, Classic Pop, R&B, the mandatory Christmas song, and a return back to her own distinct brand of rootsy rock and roll, which she and husband producer-guitarist-songwriter Neil Giraldo are most well known for producing. Her take on "RESCUE ME" is one of the gutsiest performances ever recorded of the song. Sadly missing here are her classic tracks, "I'm Gonna Follow You" - "Tell It To Her" and the studio version of John Mellencamp's "I Need A Lover"(forget "live"!) - three gems that should have been huge Top 10 hits! Quite simply, SYNCHRONISTIC WANDERINGS is a unique historical chronicle of Classic Rock & Pop from one of the gold & platinum queens of Rock.
