Patty Loveless

Long Stretch Of Lonesome

sounds of loneliness

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
I'll start by saying this is Patty's best album, and easily one of the best country albums to come out in the 1990's. Unfortunately this was the time country radio began to give up on Patty, and ultimately lose out on some of the best music to come out of Nashville. The first single was a minor hit, "You Don't Seem To Miss Me" with George Jones, very traditional in its nature but excellent at the same time. The songs are so straightforward and honest about heartbreak, loneliness, and other factors, its clearly an album of the times. It speaks ever so eloquently of the trials, tribulations, and joy of being a woman in the 90's. Some of the best songs on this album come at the end, "Too Many Memories" is a very powerful song and beautiful in its own nature. "Long Stretch of Lonesome" and "Where I'm Bound" are excellent tracks which just delve right into lonesome and loneliness. Overall an excellent album and a must have.
