The strongest songs on the CD are the ones in the middle. "Somedays" a touching love song between two people, "Young Boy" is an enjoying pop song that McCartney seems to come up with each effort, "Calico Skies" and "Flaming Pie" are easily my favorites with "Flaming Pie" coming closest to a rocker on the album. "Heaven on a Sunday" fits the mood of being alone on a quiet Sunday afternoon. The Jam sessions songs, "Used to Be Bad" and "Really Love You" I'll just take a pass. " Beautiful Night" might be a bit of fluff, but I still enjoy it. "The World Tonight" started off as an 'acoustic folk-tinged demo', I think I would have like to hear it in its original version, but the final version is still gratifying.
Overall, the CD shows that McCartney can still put out high quality work and is a buy for any Beatle fan. By the way . . . I know that you don't purchase a CD for the packaging, but the liner notes have got to be just about the best I've come across in a regular CD release.
