Paul Simon

Hearts & Bones

Simon's most accompished work

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
An introspective album dominated by 8/4 rythmes and yearning vocals makes hearts and bones, released at the height of punk, an esotric rebelion rarely seen in the pop charts. Simon more than any of his previous albums renders himself fully alive to the pathos of life in the title track hearts and bones. Worth the money asked and some by itself . Put simply, my favourite song. However the two tracks which dominate the album and are easily the most memorable are the late great jonny ace and rene and georgette magrite with thier dog after the war. The former is a lament, inconsolable in gentle outrage. The latter is an ontology of abstract beauty. Buy it. Or better still borrow it
