After "Vs." and before "Yield", Pearl Jam kind of dissapeared for a while. They'd pop up from time to time on the radio, but rarely in heavy rotation, and unless you were specifically a fan of the band, you wouldn't even have known that Pearl Jam was still making music.

Vitalogy, No Code, and Binaural are the three parts to Pearl Jam's experimentation triangle. They had succeeded with the mainstream audiences with the classics "Ten" and "Vs.", now it was time to write something for the fans. "Vitalogy" was loud rock; "No Code" was epic, melodic, and timeless; and "Binaural" is one-of-a-kind. It marked the bands return to radio with the haunting "Nothing As It Seems", which accurately portrays the overall feel of the album. Other stand-outs include "Insignificance", "Light Years", and "Thin Air". Anyone who has enjoyed the other two albums from this phase of the bands career would do very good to check out this masterpiece. It is music that only Pearl Jam could ever create. And god bless them for it.
