let me first start off by saying that pearl jam is one of my all time favorite bands. that being said, i have to say that this is one of my more favorite albums. like always (as someone else said) PJ has brought together a mixture of all types of musical types, experimenting. and they have done so well. anyone that says that there isn't a song on the album with a "hook" obviously has never listened to 'light years', which is one of the most beautiful songs i've ever listened to by anyone. i liked the fact that they have returned to writing "rockers" on this one (such as breakerfall, god's dice, insignificance) but still can keep the ballads as well. all in all this one was definately better than yield pr riot act, but not the best. however, all of their albums are high on my lists because they simply know how to write, produce, and play without the need to be overexposed on MTV and the radio like so many other bands out there today. oh, and to the guy who said that after two listens he was ready to use it for a drink coaster, obviously you aren't a music fan, because if you were you'd know that you cannot judge any album by listening to it a few times.
