As a live album, "Secret World Live" does not quite deliver. Many of the songs require the theatrical, visual component of the original performance to feel truly complete; also, there is not enough improvisation to enliven the songs, therefore making this a sort of "live in the studio on-stage" affair. However, the set merits inclusion in the Gabriel discography for the fact that several of the tunes sound better in this setting than on the original "So" and "Us" albums. "In Your Eyes" was never previously available in its unedited format on a legitimate album-length release. This holds for several of the other tracks, all of which are saved from mediocrity by the solid musicianship.
