His best

For a long time now, I have been compiling nearly all of Peter Gabriel's authorized recordings since the first Genesis album, but for some reason I waited until recently to purchase US. Well, more fool me: it is, in my humble opinion, his best ever solo album, one of the few albums I've ever heard that is amazing from start to finish. One thing though--don't expect every song to sound like the hit song 'Steam' because that is really the only straightforward 'rock' song on the album (even 'Kiss that Frog' kind of has an odd rythem to it). You will, however, lose yourself in moving songs like 'Only Us', 'Secret World', and the astonishingly beautiful 'Blood of Eden' with Sinead O'Conner on backups (when you here this song, you'll almost forgive her for being such an idiot). 'Digging in the Dirt' is still my favorite though, if for no other reason than the striking contrast between the beauty of the chorus and the violence of the rest of the song. Oh, but Genesis fans will be happy to know that I still prefer The Lamb.
