Phil Collins

Face Value

Excellent Debut Album

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (10/10)
Phil's debut is a powerful one. The ghostly "In the Air Tonight" is an awesome, spine-tingling song, featuring Daryl Steurmer on lead guitar, which he plays masterfully. Phil plays keyboards, manages the Roland drum machine, and is the culprit behind the cymbal-free drum solo at the end. Actually, Phil got the idea of having the drum solo after playing the drums on Peter Gabriel's "Games Without Frontiers", where he didn't use cymbals either. The other song that deserves a good listening to is his rendition of the Lennon-McCartney classic "Tomorrow Never Knows".
