I've always liked Phil Collins with his energetic and dynamic presence. What I enjoy about this album is the pure emotion he poured into each song. The lyrics are heartfelt and you can hear the intensity in his voice on each track.

"If Leaving Me is Easy" is a beautiful song about coping with the end of a relationship. Very deep. "I Missed Again" has that wonderful horn arrangement. Then there's "In the Air" tonight which has the funkiest and best known drum fill ever heard. It's funny hearing the so-called "story" behind this song. This is what added to the drama and curiosity, consequently making a hit. All one has to do is listen to the words in this song and its meaning becomes crystal clear.

Face Value is a must have for any Phil Collins lover. Not only can he play the hell out of some drums, he has some serious soul in his voice.
