Face Value~ Phil Collins which was released 1981 was a smah hit and it is not hard to understand why with the up beat sound, universal lyrics and his decision to move away from the prog rock sound of the early Genesis. In the air tonight is a song concerning his painfull divorce at the time and in general his lyrics connect so much better then the grand and obtuse message of early genesis and this results in massive sales.
