(10/10)Never mind what he did later, and what image he has, this is a daring and truly heartfelt work. Daring because Collins did away with the dry Genesis approach for a variety of snappy R&B songs, heartfelt because he releases his frustrations of a broken marriage in moving lyrics.
The haunting "Droned" ending in the drum-orgia "Hand in Hand" really does it for me. The ballads "If leaving me is easy" and "You know what I mean" are both outcries of heartache perfectly backed by a silenced atmosphere, while "Behind the lines" is a crispy re-working of a Genesis classic: what a difference Phil makes here!
