One of the finest musicians of the eighties was, without question, Phil Collins. For years I had heard his songs on the radio, and I was impressed with every one that I had heard. As the title of this CD implies, this is the former Genesis frontman's hits compilation. How does it measure up? Read on and find out.

If you're a casual fan and you want to get Phil's post-Genesis hits, you've come to the right place. Remember though, THIS IS ONLY A COMPILATION OF SOLO HITS. THERE ARE NO GENESIS SONGS HERE (If you're a casual fan of Phil and you want to get his Genesis hits, get the CD entitled "Turn It On Again : The Hits.") The most popular song on this compilation is, by far, In The Air Tonight. At the moment I write this, this is the most commonly-played song on the radio in my area. Of course, who could forget Phil's duet with Philip Bailey, Easy Lover? Or the awesome remake of the Supremes classic You Can't Hurry Love? The main reason I bought this compilation is for the eerily enchanting ballad, Another Day In Paradise. I'm not a big ballad person, but man, do I ever love this song. And then you've got the other hits (True Colors, Against All Odds, One More Night, Sussudio, Take Me Home.) Unfortunately, the title of "Hits" is somewhat deceiving. One of Phil's biggest solo hits, I Don't Care Anymore, IS NOT HERE! And of course, like many artists, Phil's hits weren't necessarily his best songs.

Many few men who take on the role of both lead vocalist and drummer simultaneously achieve true musical success, but Phil Collins is one of those men. And even though this isn't a perfect compilation, casual fans should love it.
