Pink Floyd

A Momentary Lapse Of Reason

On the turning away

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (6/10)
All in all, A Momentary Lapse Of Reason stands as a pretty decent David Gilmour solo record with the Pink Floyd name tacked on for the sake of album sales. I have no problem with this. Gilmour's amazing guitar work was partially responsible for the five star ratings I gave every Floyd project from Meddle to The Final Cut. The problem is, so was Roger Waters needle sharp lyrical wit and distinctive vocals. In the post-split era, Roger has been the one whose creative abilities have been stifled, largely because he needs Gilmour's guitar to keep everyone from realizing how depressing the stuff he writes generally is. Unlikely as it seems and probably is, I look forward to the day that Roger, Dave and the little Floyds can bury the hatchet and get back to combining their talents instead of using them to launch barbs at the opposing camp. As long as the acrimony remains, we're all poorer in the long run.
