Pink Floyd

A Momentary Lapse Of Reason

Very Good Gilmour Solo Album

Review Score: StarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStarStar (6/10)
This would have been a great David Gilmour solo album. OK, maybe not solo since he needed an army of hired helpers to try to sound like Floyd. As Waters said Gilmour has done a "fair forgery". To do this, it took him 19 musicians (including himself) to pull it off. Also, At the time, Rick Wright was not a full member of the band. He was paid a fee as a studio musician. He was among the FIVE musicians playing keyboards on the album. Neither Wright nor Mason contributed anything to the writing of the album. This is not Pink Floyd but it is also not a bad album. Yes, it lacks the attitude, substance, intellect of Waters. It shines with some gorgeous production, wonderful guitar solos, georgeous keyboards and a more pop sense (I mean that in a good way) than the real Floyd albums. History showed that Gilmour did have good intentions and invited Wright to join the band as a full member, but that was after the album was done. All in all, not a bad album but kind of bland if you like the powerful Floyd of old. I'd rather hear the intensity of Water's solo material. Hopefully we will get the chance to see all members together again.
