Should have been a Dave Gimour solo record
Review Score:

(6/10)
This is NOT a Pink Floyd record. This record should have never been put out under the Pink Floyd name. Dave Gilmour wrote or co-wrote every song on this record. His vocals, as always sound great, so that's a big plus. He collaberated with musicians outside of Pink Floyd for music and lyrics. Roger Waters had left at this point, so of coarse the lyrics aren't going to be up to Pink Floyd standards...read on...Nick Mason played some tom toms on one of the tracks and Rick wright played some minimal keyboard parts on some of the tracks, or maybe just one, but who knows. Dave Gilmour has openly admitted this in interviews. Dave played a lot of the keyboard parts himself, trying to immitate what Rick Wright would play. Other drummers were brought in as well. Hell, at this point, Rick wright wasn't even a full part of the band again, as having left/ been kicked out after touring for the Wall. This should have been left as Dave Gilmor's third solo record, and not a Pink Floyd record. It has all the symptoms of being a Dave Gilmour record anyway, as I just explained. I figure it was the best that could have been done at this point in the 80's. Some of the songs aren't bad for what they are but some are terrible..ok..The good..'Learning to fly', 'Sorrow', 'One Slip', 'Sorrow' and 'learning to fly 'sound better on "Pulse" , ...the Bad, Dogs of war, this song was ok, until a horrible sax came in and made me vomit, On the turning away, this song is very 'we are the world-ish', very cheesy and very 80's sounding, well this whole record smells of 80's, 'Signs of Life' is an interesting way of starting off this record but goes nowhere and not that fast, 'Terminal Frost' is decent but boring, and now the ugly...'Yet another movie', 'Round and around', and 'A new machine parts 1 and 2. 'yet another movie and a new machine parts 1 and 2 are absolute garbage. As far as post Roger Waters Pink Floyd goes, I prefer Division Bell much much more. The music is better, the lyrics are better(but not great) and it was more of a band effort, minus Roger of coarse. Check this out over Momentary Lapse if you can.
