OK - surprise, surprise - I've never been a Pink Floyd fan, and never will be.

Thru the years I've had a couple of PF albums (dis)grace my collection ("Dark Side" + "Collection of Great Dance Songs" or something) but I've always just thrown my arms up in quiet but outraged desperation whenever, unafazed, I've faced the music.

Nonetheless, seeing since it's supposedly a "Best Of", I REALLY TRIED to listen to this pile of crap with an open mind, but my time and effort was in vain. I will never like this sort of music which takes itself too seriously for its own good. As a result it just becomes silly ... in the very same way as Vanilla Ice was. It's just POP music, for chrissakes! Although that maybe too good of a word to describe this boring old lot. But one look at one of those horrendously pretentious sleeve designs and I'm gone. "Delicate Sound Of Thunder" is always guaranteed a good and hearty laugh in my house. So at least that's something.

As for the music itself, there isn't much here to warm up to. Early single "See Emily Play" isn't half bad, and deems Bowie's 1973 cover of it totally inferior and unworthy. "Money" - a 'Classic Rock' radio staple, I kid you not - proves once more that familiarity breeds contempt. Horrible. "Another Brick in the Wall", their big - yes, read it and weep - D-I-S-C-O smash, further proves that point. Dreadful.

Prog Rock at its worst. Come back EL&P, all is forgiven!
