Good Collection for a Great Band

Honestly, if you want the Pink Floyd experience, don't get this. Get the albums instead. Pink Floyd has always had some of the strongest albums in music. Only bands like Led Zeppelin, Jimi Hendrix, and the Beatles have made albums anything close to theirs.

For those of you who don't know, Pink Floyd is the best Prog Rock band ever. They are known for concept albums like Dark Side of the Moon, The Wall, and Wish You Were Here. BUt, they are much deeper than that. Pre-Dark Side albums to mention include Meddle, Obscured by Clouds, and Atom Heart Mother. The live stuff and Final Cut, Momentary Lapse, and Division Bell are fine, but no where near the caliber of the late 60's and 70's Floyd.

This collection has a little from each album, including the Psychdelic Piper at the Gates of Dawn. It flows well together, much like Pink Floyd's albums. For a newbie to Floyd, or a casual listener, this album is great; one the best Greatest Hits albums with almost no filler.

But, to true Floyd fans, just by looking at the tracks, you can see that a lot is missing. This includes stuuf from the Wall, lke Run Like Hell or Young Lust; both of which receive a lot of airplay. A 3rd CD would have been nice, because if made correctly, we wouldn't have a shortened versionof Echoes (like in this album), and we still would have no filler.

I would reccommend you to buy Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here if you want Floyd. You still spend 30 bucks, but you see the true genius of their albums, which have no weak track to speak of.

Eventually, you should delve into the Wall, which is 25% filler, 75% killer. By buying the albums, you have a more complete collection, for about the same price as these, you could get Echoes and Volume 2 of Echoes (which they should release because so much is left out).

Bottomline: Good for extremely casual listener. If you don't have the Wall or DSOTM, shame on you. Go and buy those right away.
