Frankly this is the only collection by Pink Floyd that attempts to cover the history of the band and does it quite well. Read on...

TO New Comers - Buy these albums first DARK SIDE OF THE MOON, ANIMALS, THE WALL, WISH YOU WERE HERE, PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN, SAUCERFUL OF SECRETS and MEDDLE. Enjoy these (and other albums) before exploring this collage of music. You won't be sorry. I can't imagine listening to this compilation and making any sense of it without thoroughly knowing these songs and the times in which they where written (a stretch of 30 years!)

To Old Fans - Stop complaining! It's impossible to put a collection of Pink Floyd songs together that would please everyone. (i.e. Barret fans vs. Waters fans vs. Gilmour fans). If you want all the songs from one album then listen to the album! As for me, I miss `Welcome To The Machine', `Interstellar Overdrive' and `Brain Damage/Eclipse' from the set. The unfinished song 'Embryo' would be nice too!

I think the non-chronological placing of these songs adds something new to the mix and the transitions between some of these songs create a mosaic of music just as these songs did on their original albums. My favorite is between `Us And Them' and 'Learning To Fly'.

This is definitely not a Greatest Hits, to do that you should just own the albums!
