Buy if you don't own Dark Side, The Wall, WYWH, and Meddle
Review Score:

(6/10)
Facts: This is two discs of Pink Floyd songs. It contains an unreleased song, "When the Tigers Broke Free". It contains the song Shine On You Crazy Diamond (parts 1-7), excluding a guitar solo and parts 8 and 9 from the original album Wish You Were Here. It contains the title track (approx. 16 minutes) while originally released on Meddle it is more than 20 minutes. It contains a shortened version of the song, "Marooned", off of The Division Bell.
Opinion: The reader can probably see where I'm going with this. Unless you would enjoy how all these songs are mixed together and manage to blend together, if you have all the necessary albums, just make your own mix of it. Some of my favorite songs are cut short.
What I DO enjoy about this album is how is opens the ears of the listener to the earliest Pink Floyd through Set the Controls, Astronomy Domine, and a few others. Also how it gives me an idea for what direction the band was going into when it released The Final Cut through a song like The Fletcher Memorial Home. If you are disgusted by the turn that Pink Floyd made after Roger Waters was no longer with the band, you may have to just sit through or skip such songs as Sorrow, Learning to Fly, Keep Talking, and the tiny Marooned. If you want to hear When the Tigers Broke Free, then you'll probably buy this thing anyway.
If you have Dark Side of the Moon, you can scratch 4 songs off this album. If you have The Wall, you can scratch off 4 more. If you have WYWH, you can scratch off 2 chunks and with Meddle you can take away 2 more chunks. That leaves you with 14 songs that you may enjoy discovering for the first time or you may not understand how they were all performed by the same band.
My recommendation is to go with the way it should all be heard and go with the original albums that make up this "Best of". I hope this was helpful.
