The best 'Best of' compilation I've ever heard

This album is just amazing. All the songs from different Floyd eras are mixed in together to make one big continous song or life story. Songs like 'High Hopes' from Floyds latest album 'Division Bell' flow into 'Bike' from their first album 'PIPER AT THE GATES OF DAWN'. The band obviously want you to see the contrast and it works really well.
Pink floyd have released many albums and this album gives you an oppertunity to hear stuff from albums you dont have. I had never heard the 'Momentary Lapse of reason album' but the song 'sorrow' from it is here and it is just awesome.
All the floyd greats are here 'Shine on u crazy...', 'Another Brick in the wall' 'Wish u were here' and of course 'Echoes'. There is an unreleased track 'When the tigers broke free'. It is a typical dour Waters number written about how his dad went to war but never came back.
There is a cliche that all best of albums is a good place to start for new fans. That cliche most certaintly applies here yet, this is more of an album than just a mere compilation and with the new mixes and remastering and just the sheer uniquness of the whole thing it is definitly worth buying for old fans. It is my favorite floyd album without a shadow of a doubt.
