Slightly capturing the legacy that is Pink Floyd

Growing up listening to their music, seems to be one of the biggest musical priveledges I have ever had the oppurtunity upon listening to. At first, Pink Floyd always has just been one of the coolest bands my parents listened to. I always liked ''Another Brick In The Wall pt.2'', ''Money'', etc. But now, after deeply becoming interested in bands such as Radiohead, Mr.Bungle, Candiria, etc., I see how much this great band has influenced rock music today. Thus, to showcase the great art that is Pink Floyd, Capitol Records releases a good effort that somewhat captures the essence of Pink Floyds music. I certainly wouldnt call it the best of Pink Floyd. I'd call it more of a collection of memorable Pink Floyd tunes. These songs arent particularly essential. I didnt care for the classics (you know which ones) that we hear on the radio constantly, being put on here. I do wish they would have showcased Pink Floyds earlier material (with psychadelic mastermind Syd Barrett) more. However, we do get a helpful handful. We all know what Pink Floyds music can be like. It can be extremely imaginative, and have a lot of depth. ''Ear candy'', if you will. And thats exactly what ''Echoes'' presents to us. Its a tribute to their influence on music today, and it shows.
