ALMOST as good as it gets...

Excellent comprehensive review of one of the most classic of classic rock bands, but of course even a two-disc retrospective isn't enough to hold the best of a group that regularly turn in 10-minute-plus masterpieces. And it seems like most everything they've done that clocks in at over 10 minutes made the final roster for "Echoes". Most of the band's more harder-rocking tracks ("Young Lust", "Run Like Hell", "Have A Cigar") were left aside for some of the more etheral, stoner-friendly material, which is a shame. I mean, how many people really know "The Fletcher Memorial Home" and don't know "Young Lust"? Anyway, here's the tracks that Disc THREE should have had (sorry, no Syd Barrett era stuff for me) - Have A Cigar, Goodbye Blue Sky, The Dogs Of War, Welcome To The Machine, Pigs (Three Different Ones), Lost For Words, One Slip, Mother, Not Now John, What Do You Want From Me, On The Turning Away, Empty Spaces/Young Lust, Take It Back, Run Like Hell, Brain Damage/Eclipse.
