The Best Of Pink Floyd

Good collection, not the best...

A Pink Floyd 'Best Of' is not really possible with only two discs. Even at 160 minutes at one's disposal, so much is skipped. The entirety of both DARK SIDE OF THE MOON and WISH YOU WERE HERE would have to be included, most of ANIMALS and a good chunk of THE WALL. I would even argue for a fair amount of THE FINAL CUT, but I think that'd be stretching it. As is, the collection is nifty; the artwork is really great, and it's a good way to kill two-and-a-half hours. They should have included a track from each album and maybe some more rarities. I would have much rather heard "Point Me at the Sky" and "Fat Old Sun" than the chunk of "Marooned" and all of "Keep Talking." The studio cut of "What Shall We Do Now" would have been a better WALL era rarity than "When The Tigers Broke Free," especially now that the latter is included on the remaster of THE FINAL CUT. Oh well.

All in all, this is a good album to get people into Pink Floyd, but I'd say try them with WISH YOU WERE HERE and DARK SIDE first.
